BEING MARILYN MONROE (6): Legacy, by Alan Ewing

BEING MARILYN MONROE

Legacy

The legacy of Marilyn Monroe is manifold. Her ability to use her womanhood as a strength flies in the face of convention. Indeed, the myth of Marilyn as a victim of Hollywood is itself overturned on closer examination of her life, belief system and her creative power within the fields of acting, music and writing.

It is crucial to understand the world that Marilyn lived in. Women were regarded as second class citizens. She had to work her way through this male-oriented maze, while retaining her femininity. She changed everything in that she showed that masculinity was not the only powerful way for humanity to express itself.

Of course, questions remained unanswered about her death. On the day in question she was prescribed medicines by her physician, Dr Greenson. She then had access to further medication for sleep. An accidental overdose seems the probable explanation, rather than probable suicide as stated on the death certificate. It is an unturned stone that needs addressing.

Her Legacy? Actress, Model, Dancer, Writer, Singer and Human Being. A Democrat. She released women ...

Her quotes on life are prolific:

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

Her Legacy is shown in her continued presence and fan base well into the 21st Century.
